How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 with P7500XWKL1 Firmware




If you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 and want to root it, you can follow this guide to install the P7500XWKL1 firmware and gain root access. This firmware is based on Android 3.2 Honeycomb and has the TouchWiz UI. Rooting your device will allow you to customize it, install custom ROMs, remove bloatware, and more.

Before you proceed, make sure you have backed up your data, enabled USB debugging on your device, installed the Samsung USB drivers on your computer, and disabled any security software. You will also need to download the following files:


  • P7500XWKL1 firmware package from here (P7500XWKL1_P7500XEUKL1_P7500XXKL3_HOME.tar.md5, 436 MB)



  • Odin3 v1.85 from here (Odin3_v1.85.zip, 199 KB)



  • Superuser package from here (Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip, 928 KB)



  • P7500XXKL3 Rooting Package from here (P7500XXKL3_RootPack.tar.md5, 6 MB)



Once you have downloaded all the files, follow these steps to root your device:


  • Extract the P7500XWKL1 firmware package and Odin3 v1.85 to your computer.



  • Turn off your device and boot it into download mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together.



  • Connect your device to your computer via USB cable.



  • Launch Odin3 v1.85 on your computer and make sure that the ID:COM port is highlighted in yellow and that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked.



  • Click on the PDA button and select the P7500XWKL1_P7500XEUKL1_P7500XXKL3_HOME.tar.md5 file.



  • Click on the Start button and wait for the flashing process to complete.



  • Your device will reboot automatically and you will see a PASS message on Odin.



  • Disconnect your device from your computer and turn it off again.



  • Boot it into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Power buttons together.



  • Select apply update from external storage and choose the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip file.



  • Select yes to confirm and wait for the installation to finish.



  • Select reboot system now to restart your device.



  • Your device is now rooted with Superuser app installed.



  • To install the P7500XXKL3 rooting package, repeat steps 2 to 8 but select the P7500XXKL3_RootPack.tar.md5 file instead of the P7500XWKL1 firmware file in step 5.



  • Your device is now fully rooted with BusyBox and CWM Recovery installed.
